Herd-i Appoints CEO to Lead U.S. Expansion

Herd-i has appointed Nicole Mozeliak as CEO, USA, to lead the company’s entry into the U.S. The technology is being installed on U.S. dairy farms in April, with the official launch slated for the second half of 2026.

Mozeliak brings more than 30 years of leadership experience across fast-growth and operationally complex businesses, including Starbucks, Odeko, Zipcar, Avis Budget Group and WeWork. Her appointment marks a major step for Herd-i as it builds the leadership needed to scale in one of the world’s most important dairy markets.

“The U.S. dairy industry represents a significant market opportunity. USDA data shows the country had an average of 9.3 million milk cows in 2024, with farm-gate milk sales generating approximately $50.7 billion annually. Lameness is one of the sector’s most important health and productivity issues, with research suggesting it affects roughly 20% to 30% of dairy cows in many North American herds.”

Herd-i is focused on improving the health and productivity of dairy cows. Its AI-powered platform uses high-definition in-shed cameras with world-class machine learning to deliver early detection of lameness and daily automated Body Condition Scoring. The system helps farmers make faster, more effective decisions around productivity, reproductive success and animal wellbeing.

Herd-i enters the U.S. with proof already established in New Zealand. An independent analysis found Herd-i’s technology enabled a 38% reduction in herd lameness, a 41% reduction in antibiotic use for lameness, and a 13% return on investment on the case study farm.

Karl Jameson, Director, said the appointment reflects the convergence of three critical factors: a world-first product, proven results, and the right leader.

“The pace at which AI is moving is incredible, and we know that it will fundamentally change the face of farming. Nicole has the experience to scale at speed, and Herd-i has the proof to back it up. What makes this moment exciting is that we are taking a validated product into the U.S. market at exactly the right time.”

Nicole Mozeliak, CEO, USA, said Herd-i stood out because it combines a strong product with clear market relevance.

“Herd-i has built technology that matters. It solves a real problem for dairy farmers and does it in a way that can improve both herd health and farm productivity. The fact the product is already proven in New Zealand makes this a very compelling opportunity, and I’m excited to lead Herd-i’s next phase of growth in the U.S.”
